Um... Andi.. "Designs" for what?
If you have mortar tubes, what is it you're asking about?

I have 30 out of the 100 I have ordered
I need to rack them up in 5s and 10s carpentry
Is not something I am good at my dad has said he will make them
If I pay him for the materials [thats the easy bit ] and give him a set of
Plans on how to construct them
I have never used wooden racks all the ones I normally use are purpose made
From steal and take 4" tubes far too expensive for 2" tubes so wooden will be the way to go

Re: Mortar Racks
Ok... first rule -- don't jam the tubes together.
On BARGE shots (which isn't the norm), the required spacing now (by Coast Guard rules) is one FULL mortar i.d. spacing between tubes. However, for ground shows, there is no spacing requirement.
But in spite of that, there's a benefit to spacing them apart some. We use nominal 1" lumber (firring strips) to space the guns that 7/8" apart. It helps some to prevent commuting a gun explosion from one to the next, if a shell should 'nuke' in the gun.
A simple frame that captures the tops and the bottoms of the guns is enough. I can probably find a picture of one, but it's a simple affair.
It's a 2" (nominal) bottom plate with 7/8" spacer strips between guns, 1" (nominal) full-width verticals on both ends, and two 1" (nominal) straps along the sides at the top, to 'capture' the guns (again, with 7/8" spacers between, to keep them all straight).

Re: Mortar Racks
I don't have a photo of one on my system, so I did a one-line Google search from Mozilla: "photo of a 4" fireworks wooden mortar rack"
That's all I entered, and I did ONLY the one search. Below are listed just a few of what came back. There were dozens of photos of fireworks racks!
-------------------------
Here's a single, straight-up rack:
Here's why you space the tubes apart! --
And here's how angle-fires are done: and
And finally, a drawing, just for fun: (looks to be for 2" pipes)
Will that do?

Oh, you're welcome... but I don't quite understand why that information is so readily available to me and hidden from view for you.
I did only the one search, just moments before I replied with the photos. It took all of three seconds. And since it was using the Google search line, it would have displayed the same stuff no matter which browser I used.
Where have you been 'looking', Andi?

Re: Mortar Racks
I think Andi might have been wondering what the "safest" setup would be and you've helped him hugely! If you do a search you're right a million hits come back and it's hard to filter out the noise to know if you can trust what's being suggested. I've also learned something from you - my 3 inch tubes are separated but anything under that size isn't - maybe I need a rack re-design.
Re: Mortar Racks
Oh, it's all good, and I thought I knew why he wanted pix. If I'd never built one before, I would!

Andi,
It' only makes you a redneck if you use them between show schedules to hold up your back yard picnic table!
