Boron Carbide Green

Post by sambo »

Now I seem to have developed a knack for obtaining experimental samples and looks like I will be coming into some Boron Carbide for what it's worth. It's not something I'd normally be fussed with but I hate to turn down a freebie. Has anyone ever tried it ?

Boron produces a shabby green, Sam, and the carbide has a VERY high decomposition temperature, so it does not yield up its boron easily.

I believe you will be disappointed.

Thanks, sounds like another one to add to the corner of the shelf then :-) Still - might make a useful prime for something.

Very technical, Sam! What's that modern expression, 'keepin' it real'? :-D
