Importing 10 X 60 mm tubes.

Post by Pyro-Gear »

As Oliver brown sold a large amount of the 10mm rocket/insert tool I am considering,( if the demand was big enough) to import more tubes in to the UK.

You could of course roll your own! But getting the right tube is important.

I would definitely be in! I haven't got a bit of 10mm tube/dowel lying around and for rockets I still prefer to buy tubes rather than roll my own. I still don't trust my own tubes 100% for high pressure requirements (although I haven't ever had one explode on me when I have used it for a rocket).

Good stuff that’s one in anymore? The more I get the cheaper it will be for everyone, plus I am working on a new tool for the 10mm but running whistle mix.

Ok so I am looking so far to import 1000, tubes costs per 100 to any individual will be £13 shipped that’s after paying shipping costs from outside of the UK plus shipping from my end to you.

Does that sound OK?

It’s not a bad price plus I have finished the 10mm whistle set, I have tested it and it will treble the lift weight of the BP variant in fact more! This set will be a limited addition and you won’t need a press or support tube more to follow.

Yep it is a good little tool I developed the BP version for OB, but this tool is hand made no CNC on this one, so a lot of time on the lathe hence the limited addition.

Great, thanks Ken.

I'll take 200 tubes and I'm dead keen on the tooling when it's ready.

Thanks again,

Sam.

That’s fine I think I am at a point to order them in now, the tooling I will like said post up some pictures at some point, but so far it’s a cheap and effective way to get a 1-2 inch shell up and not that noisy.

Well the lathe is working hard as we speak, did another test with very hot BP worked fine looks like this will be a good all round tool.

Tooling update:

All made now so I will be boxing up and shipping ASAP, because of the demand I have had to order more bar stock but so as to not waste what’s left I have developed a new 10mm core burner for BP, this is a 3 rammer system and very user friendly, it runs the same tube as the whistle set.

Improvements over the old set are:

Increased lift capability.
More tolerant to fuel compositions.
Longer duration.
Increased altitude.
Very quiet in operation so should not upset the neighbours

Apart from all that hand-ramming and the headers going off, that is!

Ah yes the reference was to testing the motor only. I tend to restrict headers to a more reserved location, but I see you’re your point. ;)

Well we have ran some tests on the tooling using the fastest BP we have to hand and the tooling works remarkably well on BP, but awesome on whistle next test is a strobe mix :D

No we used a 10mm clay nozzle but I see no reason why nozzle less would not work fine you just need a very fast powder, but boy do they go well!

Both Ken and I have now tried using fast BP meal, with and without a clay nozzle. In either case they seem to work well and, speaking personally, I can't see any significant difference in performance between the two.

I really love this tooling!
Even when I'm wrong, I'm convincing.

I have to admit this is the best set of tooling to date for the fun factor, zero CATO’s quick to make and low on composition I love it as well.
